Tool #4: Activating the supportive potential of design-related institutions

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Dealing with precarious working conditions of designers is something where there is a huge potential for the supportive interventions of institutions related to the promotion of design, such as design schools, museums and magazines.

They can:
• Raise the awareness of designers, industry and policy makers around issues of precariousness.
• Be inventive with how they use or give access to their surplus of material and immaterial resources in order to support precarious practitioners.
• Be reflective and experimental with the kind of design practices they promote as desirable/attractive/successful.

If you’re interested in considering how your institution/organisation could support processes of de-precarisation, please get in touch.
